What do I have to do to prepare for the treatments?

This will all be discussed in your complimentary consultation but the most important is to be using a sunscreen of 30 SPF or more for the 4 weeks prior to treatment as well as during the treatment process. Milestones Spa carries an excellent range of Dermalogica sunscreens perfect for your skin care needs. You will also need to be taking care of your skin at home and will receive a free skin kit from Dermalogica to use while receiving your series.

When can I purchase the series and receive the treatments?

We are pre-selling our Bye Bye Breakouts Series from June 1-July 31 and will begin the series treatments August 1. Treatment requirements are 1/week for 4 consecutive weeks and each treatment takes 30 minutes. A complimentary consultation is required prior to receiving your first treatment.

Why should I get these treatments?

We have been asked by adults and parents of teenagers if there is anything they can do to prevent their acne breakouts. While a good skin care regime is extremely important and will help, we noticed exceptional results with the IPL Acne Series. By preventing future breakouts you are also preventing future scarring, hyper-pigmentation that can be left behind after the pimples heal and reducing pain caused by acne.

How is the treatment done?

You will receive detailed information during your complimentary consultation prior to treatment but essentially the appropriate filter will be chosen to target the acne that you suffer from and we will make up to 3 passes over the skin on each visit. Depending on the severity of the blemishes, the first treatment can be quite painful and we may not be able to do three passes but we will do as many as you can handle with our goal by the end of the 4 weeks to be doing 3. After that we make one pass over the skin with our most superficial filter to kill the bacteria sitting on the surface of the skin.

1st Treatment:

Before I had the first treatment I had a lot of painful under the skin acne as well as surface acne. I was a little unsure of what to expect the first time as far as results, as well as pain, during and after. I found the first treatment pretty painful, but only while they were doing it, immediately after the pain subsided. After the first treatment my face was dry and flaky but after a couple hours felt fine. I noticed the acne I had before the first session went down that night, especially the sore ones. My face looked clearer after the first session, which I did not expect for it to be so quick.

2nd Treatment:

On the second session the pain was way more bearable and I was able to do 3 passes instead of just 2 with ease. Results after the second treatment were even better because it further cleared the current acne as well as prevented new acne breakouts. I probably noticed only a couple new zits instead of the usual amount in a week. My skin started to feel smoother as opposed to the lumps I was used to.

Third Treatment:

The third treatment was much the same as the 2nd treatment for subsided acne; it was a little more painful this time than the second. The results were getting better with each week and my face no longer felt sore from the acne and I was just getting small painless pimples from time to time, not like the large amount of new zits I would get each day. I noticed that the redness from my acne has gone away.

Fourth Treatment:

Going into the 4th session felt pretty good, the pain was minimal and I could go right back to work and not look like I had just gotten a laser treatment on my face (after the first treatment my face was a bit red and puffy), my face started to feel much smoother this week and not so dry, I would say that I have had zero painful under the skin zits since this treatment.

Over all this treatment was great and worth it for me, my face no longer is super sore from painful acne. If you have acne that’s always sore and red and you constantly feel you need to pop it then I recommend this.
